About This Product
This 1-1/8 x 18 UNFF machine tap is built for cutting or repairing threads in a wide range of metals.

It is made from high-speed steel with a titanium nitride coating that boosts wear resistance and reduces friction, so it lasts longer even when you are working with tougher materials.
The straight flute design works well for through holes and shallow blind holes – just keep in mind it is not ideal for deep blind holes.
Overall length is about 5 inches, with a thread head of just under an inch and a square shank for secure chuck mounting.

It is a right-hand cutting tap, which is standard for most applications.

You can use it with manual equipment like tapping machines, bench drills, CNC lathes, or machining centers – pretty versatile.

The recommended cutting speeds depend on the material: general steel goes at 6-15m/min, harder steel 5-10m/min, stainless at 2-7m/min, and cast iron at 8-10m/min.

Remember to use cutting fluid or coolant to keep things cool and extend tool life, and always double-check your hole size before starting.
If you feel resistance, back off and clear the chips.

A solid, reliable tap for machinists, maintenance pros, and serious DIYers who need clean, accurate threads.
